Proses penuaan menyebabkan perubahan pada sistem neuromuskular dan muskuloskeletal yang berkontribusi terhadap penurunan spasticity, peningkatan lower extremity strength, balance, dan fear of falling, yang dapat menurunkan mobilitas dan kualitas hidup. tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi efek cognitive sensorimotor exercise terhadap spasticity, lower extremity strength, balance, dan fear of falling pada lansia. desain quasi-experimental dengan one-group pretest-posttestt melibatkan 38 lansia di panti sosial lanjut usia geunaseh sayang, banda aceh, yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. peserta mengikuti cognitive sensorimotor exercise selama 30 menit per sesi, 5 kali dalam 1 minggu selama 4 minggu. penilaian sebelum dan sesudah intervensi menggunakan instrumen modified ashworth scale, manual muscle testing, short physical performance battery, dan modified falls efficacy scale. hasil analisis menggunakan uji wilcoxon signed-rank menunjukkan adanya perbaikan klinis yang signifikan pada seluruh variabel setelah intervensi (p = 0,001). perbaikan tersebut ditunjukkan oleh penurunan spasticity (mean rank = 18,50), peningkatan lower extremity strength (mean rank = 19,50), peningkatan balance (mean rank = 19,50), serta penurunan fear of falling (mean rank = 19,50). temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa cognitive sensorimotor exercise efektif meningkatkan lower extremity strength dan balance serta menurunkan spasticity dan fear of falling pada lansia, sehingga cognitive sensorimotor exercise direkomendasikan untuk diintegrasikan ke dalam pelayanan keperawatan sebagai bagian dari program rehabilitasi dan latihan fisik bagi lansia



Abstract

The aging process causes changes in the neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems that contribute to declines in lower extremity strength and balance and to increased fear of falling, which can reduce mobility and quality of life. This study aims to evaluate the effects of cognitive sensorimotor exercise on spasticity, lower extremity strength, balance, and fear of falling in the elderly. A quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-Posttestt approach involved 38 elderly participants at the Panti Sosial Lanjut Usia Geunaseh Sayang, Banda Aceh, selected via purposive sampling. Participants engaged in cognitive sensorimotor exercise for 30 minutes per session, 5 times a week over a 4-week period. Pre-post intervention assessments were conducted using the modified ashworth scale, manual muscle testing, short physical performance battery, and modified falls efficacy scale. Data were analyzed using the wilcoxon signed-rank test. The findings demonstrated significant clinical improvements across all variables post-intervention (p=0.001). These improvements were indicated by a decrease in spasticity (mean rank = 18.50), an increase in lower extremity strength (mean rank = 19.50), an increase in balance (mean rank = 19.50), and a reduction in fear of falling (mean rank = 19.50). This study indicates that cognitive sensorimotor exercise is effective in improving lower extremity strength and balance, as well as reducing spasticity and fear of falling in the elderly, Therefore, integrating cognitive sensorimotor exercise into nursing care is recommended as part of rehabilitation and physical exercise programs for the elderly
