Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang analisis total padatan tersuspensi (tss) di aliran sungai meureudu, kabupaten pidie jaya. tingginya curah hujan serta aktivitas antropogenik berpotensi meningkatkan konsentrasi material tersuspensi yang dapat menurunkan kualitas perairan dan mempercepat proses sedimentasi. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis konsentrasi tss pada aliran sungai lebih lanjut, identifikasi ukuran sedimen dasar, serta mengkaji hubungan antara tss dengan (mean grain size) dan tss dengan kecerahan air di sungai meureudu, kabupaten pidie jaya. pengukuran tss dilakukan dengan metode gravimetri, sedangkan analisis ukuran butir sedimen menggunakan metode ayakan bertingkat berdasarkan klasifikasi wentworth dan penentuan tipe sedimen menggunakan diagram folk. parameter kecerahan diukur menggunakan secchi disk dan kedalaman menggunakan papan skala. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi tss pada kondisi hujan lebih tinggi dibandingkan kondisi tidak hujan, dengan kisaran nilai 58,2–219 mg/l dan 21,8–200,5 mg/l. hasil uji paired sample menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan konsentrasi tss maupun ukuran butir sedimen antara kedua kondisi berbeda secara signifikan (p < 0,05). sedimen dasar di seluruh lokasi penelitian didominasi oleh fraksi pasir halus hingga pasir sangat halus, sementara stasiun 6 menunjukkan karakteristik pasir sedang hingga pasir kasar yang mencerminkan energi aliran lebih tinggi. hubungan tss dengan ukuran butir sedimen menunjukkan korelasi positif dengan tingkat keeratan relatif rendah hingga sedang, sedangkan hubungan tss dengan kecerahan menunjukkan korelasi negatif yang sangat kuat. kecerahan air cenderung menurun pada lokasi dengan konsentrasi tss yang tinggi, terutama saat hujan dan pada stasiun yang relatif dangkal. variasi tss dipengaruhi oleh curah hujan, proses erosi, karakteristik hidrodinamika sungai, serta aktivitas nelayan yang memicu resuspensi sedimen. hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi dasar dalam upaya pemantauan kualitas perairan dan pengelolaan daerah aliran sungai secara berkelanjutan. kata kunci: resuspensi sedimen, ukuran butir sedimen, kecerahan air, curah hujan, dan kualitas perairan.

Abstract
A study was conducted to analyze Total Suspended Solids (TSS) in the Meureudu River, Pidie Jaya Regency. High rainfall and anthropogenic activities have the potential to increase the concentration of suspended materials, thereby reducing water quality and accelerating sedimentation processes. This study aims to further analyze TSS concentrations in river flow, identify bed sediment sizes, and examine the relationships between TSS and mean grain size, as well as between TSS and water clarity, in the Meureudu River, Pidie Jaya Regency. TSS was measured using the gravimetric method, while sediment grain-size analysis was conducted using a stacked sieve method based on the Wentworth classification, and sediment types were determined using the Folk Diagram. Water transparency was measured using a Secchi disk, whereas water depth was measured using a graduated measuring board. The results showed that TSS concentrations were higher during rainy conditions than during non-rainy conditions, ranging from 58.2–219 mg/L and 21.8–200.5 mg/L, respectively. The Paired Sample test indicated that differences in both TSS concentrations and sediment grain sizes between the two conditions were statistically significant (p < 0.05). Bed sediments throughout the study area were dominated by fine sand to very fine sand fractions, whereas Station 6 was characterized by medium to coarse sand, indicating higher flow energy. The relationship between TSS and sediment grain size showed a positive correlation with a relatively low to moderate degree of association, while the relationship between TSS and water transparency exhibited a very strong negative correlation. Water transparency tended to decrease at locations with high TSS concentrations, particularly during rainy conditions and at relatively shallow stations. Variations in TSS were influenced by rainfall, erosion processes, river hydrodynamic characteristics, and fishing boat activities that triggered sediment resuspension. These findings provide a scientific basis for water quality monitoring and the sustainable management of the Meureudu River watershed.
