Ketergantungan pada bahan bakar fosil dan besarnya potensi energi surya, hidro, dan angin di aceh yang belum tergarap secara terintegrasi melatarbelakangi perancangan pusat riset energi terbarukan di banda aceh ini. perancangan bertujuan menghadirkan fasilitas riset yang mewadahi tiga klaster energi tersebut secara mandiri sekaligus terintegrasi melalui sistem smart grid bersama, dengan tema sustainable architecture berkonsep “sustainability as a learning process” — menjadikan bangunan sebagai laboratorium hidup yang menerapkan strategi desain pasif dan aktif responsif iklim tropis. metode perancangan meliputi analisis besaran ruang berbasis dimensi aktual peralatan dan kapasitas pengguna, analisis hubungan ruang makro-mikro untuk zonasi berdasarkan tingkat privasi, serta eksplorasi bentuk massa yang merespons tapak seluas 24.728 m² di jl. kampung jawa, tibang, banda aceh (kdb 60%, klb 4,8). hasil rancangan menghasilkan total luas bangunan 8.252,47 m², dengan massa laboratorium tiga klaster energi mendominasi 55,14% dari total luas, dipisahkan dari zona publik untuk meminimalkan kebisingan dan menjaga privasi riset. kata kunci: pusat riset, energi terbarukan, sustainable architecture, living laboratory, banda aceh



Abstract

The dependence on fossil fuels and the substantial untapped potential of solar, hydro, and wind energy in Aceh—which remain largely undeveloped in an integrated manner—underlie the design of this Renewable Energy Research Center in Banda Aceh. The design aims to provide a research facility that accommodates three energy clusters independently while enabling cross-cluster integration through a shared smart grid system, guided by the theme of Sustainable Architecture under the concept of “Sustainability as a Learning Process”—positioning the building itself as a living laboratory that embodies passive and active design strategies responsive to the tropical climate. The design method involved space program analysis based on the actual dimensions of laboratory equipment and user capacity, macro-micro spatial relationship analysis to determine zoning based on privacy levels, and formal massing exploration responsive to a 24,728 m² site on Jl. Kampung Jawa, Tibang, Banda Aceh (building coverage ratio 60%, floor area ratio 4.8). The design results in a total building area of 8,252.47 m², with the laboratory spaces of the three energy clusters accounting for 55.14% of the total area, separated from the public zone to minimize noise and preserve research privacy.
