Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas berbagai konsentrasi ekstrak pisang dalam meningkatkan viabilitas dan vigor benih jagung manis (zea mays l. saccharata sturt) yang telah kadaluarsa. penelitian ini dilaksanakan di laboratorium ilmu dan teknologi benih, fakultas pertanian universitas syiah kuala pada maret–april 2025. penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (ral) pola non faktorial dengan lima taraf konsentrasi ekstrak pisang, yaitu 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, dan 20%, masing-masing perlakuan diulang tiga kali. parameter yang diamati meliputi potensi tumbuh maksimum, daya berkecambah, keserempakan tumbuh, indeks vigor, kecepatan tumbuh, waktu mencapai 50% kecambah normal, serta bobot basah dan kering berangkasan. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan konsentrasi ekstrak pisang berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap indeks vigor dan bobot basah berangkasan, serta berpengaruh nyata terhadap potensi tumbuh maksimum, daya berkecambah, keserempakan tumbuh, dan bobot kering berangkasan. namun, tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap kecepatan tumbuh dan waktu mencapai 50% kecambah normal. konsentrasi ekstrak pisang 10–15% memberikan hasil terbaik dalam meningkatkan viabilitas dan vigor benih jagung manis kadaluarsa.



Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of various concentrations of banana extract in improving the viability and vigor of expired sweet corn seeds (Zea mays L. saccharata Sturt). The research was conducted at the Seed Science and Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University, from March to April 2025. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with a non-factorial pattern consisting of five levels of banana extract concentrations: 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, each replicated three times. The observed parameters included maximum growth potential, germination percentage, growth uniformity, vigor index, growth rate, time to reach 50% normal germination, and fresh and dry biomass weight. The results showed that the concentration of banana extract had a highly significant effect on the vigor index and fresh biomass weight, and a significant effect on maximum growth potential, germination percentage, growth uniformity, and dry biomass weight. However, it had no significant effect on growth rate and time to reach 50% normal germination. The banana extract concentration of 10–15% provided the best results in improving the viability and vigor of expired sweet corn seeds
