SUJA AL FAJAR, EVALUASI KINERJA REVETMENT DI PANTAI UJONG KAREUNG - SUAK RIBEE KABUPATEN ACEH BARAT BERDASARKAN KONDISI FISIK DAN FUNGSI. Banda Aceh Program study Teknik Sipil Fakultas Teknik Unsyiah,2026

Abstract

Ujong Kareung–Suak Ribee Beach, West Aceh Regency, is a coastal area that is highly vulnerable to coastal erosion, shoreline degradation, and tidal flooding. To mitigate these hazards, a tetrapod revetment was constructed as a coastal protection structure. After more than a decade of operation, an evaluation is required to determine whether the structure remains physically sound and capable of performing its intended coastal protection function effectively. This study aimed to evaluate the physical condition and functional performance of the revetment and to determine appropriate maintenance recommendations based on the evaluation results. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed through field observations conducted on 48 survey sections covering approximately 4.8 km of coastline. The physical condition was assessed using the Physical Condition Index (PCI) based on the condition of tetrapod and concrete block armor units in accordance with the 2011 Guidelines for the Operation and Maintenance of Coastal Protection Structures. Functional performance was evaluated using the revetment Functional Disturbance Index (RFDI), which considers overtopping, piping, illegal structures, and vegetation through a weighted scoring system. The results showed that all survey sections were classified as having good physical condition, with PCI values ranging from 1.00 to 1.20. However, only 13 sections (27.08%) demonstrated good functional performance, while 35 sections (72.92%) were classified as poor, primarily due to overtopping. Based on the decision matrix, 13 sections were recommended for routine monitoring, whereas 35 sections require further technical assessment. This study concludes that although the Revetment remains in good physical condition, it has not yet been able to perform its coastal protection function optimally. Therefore, periodic evaluation of functional performance is essential to support operation, maintenance, and decision-making for coastal protection structures in West Aceh Regency.
