Studi mengenai lanskap bahasa pada penamaan tempat ibadah islam di banda aceh

This research is aimed to discover language preferences on name signs of Islamic places of worship in Banda Aceh and reveal the reasons for the names of the religious sites. The data in this study were obtained from 116 mosques, 54 meunasahs and 22 mushallas at Banda Aceh. The data of this research were collected by using pictures, observation sheet, and interviews. The pictures of 192 places of worship and their name signs were captured, and then kind of languages and language preferences were transcribed and analyzed. The results showed that there are eight languages are found on the name signs and Acehnese is the most language used on the signs. Furthermore, there are unique reasons for the name choices: based on notable person and as instructed by institution or suggested by organization are two of the reasons.
