Abstract
Indrapatra Fortress is one of the cultural heritage sites left behind by the Lamuri Kingdom in Aceh Besar Regency. Parts of the fortress structure are believed to have been buried by sediment due to sedimentation processes influenced by various natural phenomena, including the 2004 tsunami. These conditions make it difficult to identify subsurface structures, necessitating the use of non-destructive geophysical methods. This study aims to determine the primary wave velocity (Vp) response, identify variations in Vp values as an indication of differences in subsurface materials, and interpret the Vp distribution model to determine the presence of structures around the Indrapatra Fort site. The study was conducted using the seismic refraction method along three measurement lines at the Indrapatra Fort site, with data processing employing travel time inversion. The results show that Vp values range from 0.20 to >1.80 km/s, with an identification depth of up to 12 m. Based on variations in Vp values below the surface, the subsurface consists of sediment deposits, coastal sediments, and surface sediments. Furthermore, anomaly zones were identified along all three survey lines that correlate with exposed sections of the fortress walls at the surface; these are interpreted as the structure of Indrapatra Fortress, which remains buried beneath sediment. The study’s results demonstrate that the seismic refraction method is capable of identifying variations in subsurface materials and mapping indications of the Indrapatra Fortress structure, thereby providing supporting information for conservation efforts and archaeological research.
