Amonia (nh₃) merupakan gas yang terbentuk dari proses dekomposisi nitrogen dalam feses ayam and dapat menyebabkan iritasi pada saluran pernapasan ayam. pembentukan amonia di dalam kanandg dipengaruhi oleh jenis litter yang digunakan. kompos feses sapi berpotensi digunakan sebagai litter alternatif karena memiliki kemampuan menyerap kelembapan and telah mengalami proses dekomposisi. penelitian ini bertujuan membandingkan kadar gas amonia (nh₃) pada kanandg ayam broiler yang menggunakan litter serbuk kayu and kompos feses sapi. penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (ral) dengan dua perlakuan, yaitu litter serbuk kayu (lsk) and litter kompos feses sapi (lkfs). masing masing perlakuan terdiri dari 3 buah kanandg untuk tiga ulangan and masing-masing didistribusikan 15 ekor day old chicken (doc). ayam penelitian dipelihara dalam kondisi manajemen yang sama selama 28 hari periode pemeliharaan. pengukuran kadar gas amonia dilakukan pada ketinggian ± 10 cm di atas permukaan litter pada hari ke-1, 7, 14, 21, and 28 pemeliharaan. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata jumlah kadar amonia yang terbentuk selama pengamatan dari lkfs adalah 5,94 ppm, secara nyata lebih rendah (p



Abstract

Ammonia (NH₃) is a gas produced from the decomposition of nitrogen in chicken feces and may cause irritation to the respiratory tract of broiler chickens. The formation of ammonia inside poultry houses is influenced by the type of litter used. Cow manure compost has the potential to be used as an alternative litter material because of its ability to absorb moisture and its prior decomposition process. This study aimed to compare ammonia gas (NH₃) levels in broiler houses using wood shavings litter and cow manure compost litter. The study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two treatment groups, namely wood shavings litter (WSL) and cow manure compost litter (CMCL). Each treatment consisted of three pens as three replications, and each pens was stocked with 15 day-old chickens (DOC). The experimental chickens were maintained under the same management conditions for 28 days. Ammonia gas levels were measured at a height of approximately ±10 cm above the litter surface on days 1, 7, 14, 21, and 28 of the rearing period.
