DEDE SYAUQI, APLIKASI FEM BAHAN ELASTO-PLASTIC UNTUK SIMULASI STABILITAS LERENG DI PROVINSI ACEH. Banda Aceh Fakultas Teknik Mesin,2026

Abstract

Aceh Province is one of the regions in Indonesia that is highly susceptible to landslides due to its steep topography, high rainfall intensity, and complex geological conditions. This study aims to evaluate the stability of unsaturated soil slopes by considering the effects of rainfall infiltration and pore water pressure using the Finite Element Method (FEM) implemented in COMSOL Multiphysics. An elasto-plastic constitutive model was employed to represent soil behavior more realistically. The simulation results indicate that rainfall infiltration increases pore water pressure, particularly at the lower part of the slope, leading to a reduction in effective stress and consequently decreasing the soil shear strength. The hydraulic head distribution shows groundwater flow from the upper to the lower part of the slope, resulting in water accumulation within the soil mass. The deformation analysis also reveals the formation of a non-circular (rotational) slip surface, along with elastic and plastic strain zones that indicate progressive deformation and the potential for slope failure. Overall, the findings demonstrate that the interaction between rainfall infiltration, increased pore water pressure, and the mechanical response of the soil constitutes the primary factor governing slope instability.
