Keterbukaan diri merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam komunikasi interpersonal yang dapat memengaruhi kualitas hubungan dalam keluarga, khususnya antara ibu dan anak. pada fase remaja akhir, mahasiswa cenderung mengalami perubahan pola komunikasi akibat meningkatnya tuntutan akademik, kemandirian, serta pengaruh digitalisasi yang berpotensi mengurangi kedalaman interaksi emosional. kondisi ini dapat berdampak pada tingkat keakraban antara ibu dan anak. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh keterbukaan diri remaja terhadap tingkat keakraban ibu dan anak pada mahasiswa fisip universitas syiah kuala. teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori penetrasi sosial yang menjelaskan bahwa hubungan interpersonal berkembang secara bertahap melalui proses keterbukaan diri dari lapisan dangkal menuju lapisan yang lebih dalam. penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif eksplanatif dengan metode survei melalui penyebaran kuesioner secara daring. sampel penelitian berjumlah 137 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik quota sampling dengan kriteria mahasiswa aktif fisip universitas syiah kuala yang memiliki ibu kandung serta melakukan komunikasi dengan ibu kandung minimal satu kali setiap hari atau satu kali dalam seminggu selama satu tahun terakhir. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterbukaan diri remaja berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap tingkat keakraban ibu dan anak pada mahasiswa fisip universitas syiah kuala. nilai koefisien determinasi (r square) sebesar 0,204 menunjukkan bahwa keterbukaan diri remaja memberikan kontribusi sebesar 20,4% terhadap tingkat keakraban ibu dan anak, sedangkan sisanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor lain di luar penelitian. dengan demikian, semakin tinggi keterbukaan diri remaja kepada ibu, maka semakin tinggi pula tingkat keakraban yang terjalin antara ibu dan anak. kata kunci: keterbukaan diri, tingkat keakraban, komunikasi interpersonal.

Self-disclosure is an important aspect of interpersonal communication that can affect the quality of family relationships, particularly between mothers and children. During late adolescence, university students tend to experience changes in communication patterns due to increasing academic demands, independence, and the influence of digitalization, which may reduce the depth of emotional interactions. This condition can affect the level of intimacy between mothers and children. This study aims to determine the influence of adolescent self-disclosure on the level of mother–child intimacy among students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Syiah Kuala University. This study employed the Social Penetration Theory, which explains that interpersonal relationships develop gradually through a process of self-disclosure, moving from superficial layers to deeper and more personal levels. This research used a quantitative explanatory approach with a survey method through online questionnaire distribution. The sample consisted of 137 respondents selected using a quota sampling technique. The criteria for the respondents were active students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Syiah Kuala University, who had a biological mother and communicated with their mother at least once a day or once a week during the past year. The results showed that adolescent self-disclosure had a positive and significant influence on the level of mother–child intimacy among students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Syiah Kuala University. The coefficient of determination (R Square) value of 0.204 indicated that self-disclosure contributed 20.4% to the level of mother–child intimacy, while the remaining 79.6% was influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. Therefore, the higher the level of adolescent self-disclosure toward their mothers, the higher the level of intimacy established between mothers and children.
