Abstract
Patient satisfaction is a key indicator of hospital service quality because it reflects the extent to which healthcare services meet patients' expectations. Although the Community Satisfaction Index at Bireuen Regional General Hospital indicates good performance, patient complaints persist, suggesting a gap between the services received and patients' expectations that may hinder efforts to improve service quality. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design to analyze the determinants of patient satisfaction based on sociodemographic factors among hospitalized patients at Bireuen Regional General Hospital. A total of 340 inpatients were selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected using the SERVQUAL questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-square test and binary logistic regression. The results Binary logistic regression analysis of the final model showed that sex (aOR = 2.305; 95% CI = 1.133–4.689; p = 0.021), educational level (aOR = 6.423; 95% CI = 3.925–10.511; p < 0.001), marital status (aOR = 0.321; 95% CI = 0.124–0.830; p = 0.019), health insurance ownership (aOR = 11.119; 95% CI = 2.550–48.488; p = 0.001), and residential distance from the hospital (aOR = 0.308; 95% CI = 0.152–0.625; p = 0.001) were significantly associated with patient satisfaction. Health insurance ownership was the most dominant sociodemographic factor associated with patient satisfaction. In conclusion, sociodemographic factors are determinants of patient satisfaction and should be considered in developing strategies to improve the quality of hospital services.
