Abstract
The Jaboi geothermal area in Sabang City is an ecosystem with distinctive environmental characteristics resulting from geothermal activity; this activity causes variations in soil temperature that potentially influence the structure and composition of understory vegetation. Information regarding understory plant diversity in relation to soil temperature in this area remains limited. This study aimed to identify understory plant species, analyze the Importance Value Index (IVI), calculate the Shannon–Wiener diversity index (H'), and determine community similarity levels using the Morisita–Horn index across three soil temperature zones. The study employed a multiple-plot quadrat method with stratified sampling across three zones: Zone I (>28°C), Zone II (26–28°C), and Zone III (
