Abstract
The silvered leaf monkey (Trachypithecus cristatus) is a primate species experiencing a continuous population decline; thus, information regarding its reproductive biology is critical to support conservation strategies. This study aimed to identify and describe the microanatomy of the female reproductive organs of the silvered leaf monkey. The study utilized a single cadaver of a female silvered leaf monkey, estimated to be over three years of age. The cadaver was obtained from the Center for Wildlife Studies and was originally found around Saree, Seulawah Valley, Aceh Besar Regency. Female reproductive organ samples were collected, processed into histological sections, and stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE). The specimens were examined under an Olympus CX31 light microscope at magnifications of 40 and 100. Data obtained from the study were analyzed descriptively. The results demonstrated that the reproductive system consists of the ovaries, Fallopian tubes (oviducts), uterus, cervix, and vagina. The ovary consists of a cortex and a medulla containing primordial, primary, secondary, and tertiary follicles, as well as the corpus luteum and corpus albicans. The Fallopian tubes are composed of the tunica mucosa, tunica muscularis, and tunica serosa. The uterus consists of the endometrium, myometrium, and perimetrium. The cervix features mucosal, muscular, and serous layers, while the vagina is composed of the mucosa, muscularis, and adventitia. Based on the characteristics of the ovarian follicles and the presence of both a corpus luteum and a corpus albicans, the subject evaluated is suspected to have been in the post-ovulatory or luteal phase. Keywords: Trachypithecus cristatus, microanatomy, female reproductive organs, luteal phase.
