Kemampuan numerasi merupakan salah satu kompetensi penting yang harus dimiliki siswa untuk memahami, menganalisis, dan menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika dalam berbagai konteks kehidupan sehari-hari. namun, kemampuan numerasi siswa masih tergolong rendah, khususnya pada materi kesebangunan yang menuntut pemahaman konsep perbandingan dan penerapannya dalam situasi nyata. salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat diterapkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi siswa adalah problem based learning (pbl), karena pembelajaran ini menekankan pada pemecahan masalah kontekstual yang mendorong siswa berpikir kritis, logis, dan sistematis. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan numerasi siswa setelah diterapkan model problem based learning pada materi kesebangunan di kelas vii smp negeri 8 banda aceh. penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-experimental melalui one group pretest-posttest design. populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas vii smp negeri 8 banda aceh tahun ajaran 2025/2026. sampel penelitian terdiri dari satu kelas yang dipilih menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. instrumen penelitian berupa tiga butir soal uraian yang digunakan sebagai pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur kemampuan numerasi siswa. teknik analisis data meliputi uji normalitas shapiro-wilk dan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji-t berpasangan (paired sample t-test). hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan nilai rata-rata kemampuan numerasi siswa dari 48,82 pada pretest menjadi 76,26 pada posttest. berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis pada taraf signifikansi α = 0,05, diperoleh nilai t_(hitung>) t_tabel, yaitu 1,80 >1, 692. h₀ ditolak dan h₁ diterima. dengan demikian, penerapan model problem based learning efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi siswa pada materi kesebangunan.

Numeracy ability is one of the important competencies that students must have to understand, analyze, and solve mathematical problems in various daily life contexts. However, students' numeracy ability is still relatively low, especially in the similarity material that requires an understanding of the concept of comparison and its application in real situations. One learning model that can be applied to improve students' numeracy ability is Problem Based Learning (PBL), because this learning emphasizes contextual problem solving that encourages students to think critically, logically, and systematically. This study aims to determine the improvement in students' numeracy ability after the application of the Problem Based Learning model on similarity material in grade VII of SMP Negeri 8 Banda Aceh. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design through a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population was all grade VII students of SMP Negeri 8 Banda Aceh in the 2025/2026 academic year. The study sample consisted of one class selected using a simple random sampling technique. The research instrument was three essay questions used as a pretest and posttest to measure students' numeracy ability. Data analysis techniques include the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and hypothesis testing using paired sample t-test. The results of the study showed an increase in the average value of students' numeracy abilities from 48.82 in the pretest to 76.26 in the posttest. Based on hypothesis testing at a significance level of α = 0.05, the value of t_(hitung>) t_tabel,, namely 1.80>1.692. H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. Thus, the application of the Problem Based Learning model was effective in improving students' numeracy abilities on the similarity material.
