Automatic meter reading (amr) merupakan sistem pembacaan dan pemantauan energi listrik secara otomatis yang digunakan oleh pt pln (persero) untuk meningkatkan akurasi pencatatan serta efektivitas pengawasan penggunaan energi listrik pelanggan. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan sistem amr, menganalisis peran amr dalam pengawasan pemakaian energi listrik, serta mengidentifikasi hambatan yang terjadi dalam pengoperasian sistem tersebut. penelitian dilakukan di wilayah kerja pt pln (persero) up3 banda aceh dengan metode deskriptif dan pendekatan analisis teknis. data diperoleh melalui observasi sistem monitoring amr, studi dokumentasi, dan wawancara dengan petugas terkait. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem amr mampu melakukan pemantauan penggunaan energi listrik secara otomatis dan real-time, sehingga proses monitoring menjadi lebih efektif dan efisien dibandingkan metode pencatatan manual. sistem ini juga mampu mendeteksi gangguan komunikasi, kehilangan data (missing data), serta perubahan pola beban pelanggan melalui fitur monitoring dan load profile. namun demikian, kinerja sistem amr sangat dipengaruhi oleh kualitas jaringan komunikasi gsm dan kondisi perangkat komunikasi meter. gangguan pada jaringan maupun perangkat dapat menyebabkan data tidak terbaca dan menghambat proses monitoring. berdasarkan hasil analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sistem amr memiliki peran penting dalam mendukung pengawasan penggunaan energi listrik pelanggan serta membantu proses identifikasi dan penanganan gangguan. oleh karena itu, diperlukan pemeliharaan perangkat secara berkala dan peningkatan kualitas jaringan komunikasi agar sistem dapat beroperasi secara optimal. kata kunci: automatic meter reading (amr), energi listrik, monitoring, load profile, pt pln (persero).

Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) is an automated electricity metering and monitoring system used by PT PLN (Persero) to improve measurement accuracy and enhance supervision of customer electricity consumption. This study aims to examine the implementation of the AMR system, analyze its role in monitoring electricity usage, and identify obstacles encountered during its operation. The research was conducted within the service area of PT PLN (Persero) UP3 Banda Aceh using a descriptive method with a technical analysis approach. Data were collected through observation of the AMR monitoring system, documentation studies, and interviews with related personnel. The results indicate that the AMR system is capable of monitoring electricity consumption automatically and in real time, making the monitoring process more effective and efficient compared to conventional manual recording methods. The system can also detect communication disturbances, missing data, and abnormal load profile changes through its monitoring features. However, the performance of the AMR system is highly dependent on the quality of the GSM communication network and the condition of meter communication devices. Network or device failures may result in unreadable data and disrupt the monitoring process. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the AMR system plays an important role in supporting the supervision of customer electricity consumption and assisting in the identification and handling of system disturbances. Therefore, regular maintenance of AMR equipment and improvements in communication network quality are necessary to ensure optimal system performance.
