Secara geografis, lokasi penelitian berada pada koordinat 5° 9' 56.41" - 5° 13' 12.68" lu dan 96° 52' 23.30" - 96° 54' 31.60" bt, dengan luasan area 6×4 km2. sedangkan secara administrasi daerah penelitian berada pada kecamatan gandapura dan sekitarnya, kabupaten bireuen, provinsi aceh. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi geologi serta karakteristik air tanah dan hubungannya dengan kondisi geologi pada daerah penelitian. metode yang digunakan meliputi pemetaan geologi di lapangan, analisis petrografi, serta pengukuran muka air tanah (mat) untuk analisis sifat fisik dan kimia. parameter sifat fisik yang dianalisi meliputi temperatur, ph, daya hantar listri (dhl), dan total dissolved solid (tds), sedangkan parameter sifat kimia dianalisis berdasarkan kandungan ion kation dan anion pada air tanah yang kemudian diinterpretasikan menggunakan diagram stiff dan piper. hasil penelitian menunjukkan daerah penelitian memiliki empat unit geomorfologi yaitu denudasional (d1), dataran (d5), fluvial (f1), dan dataran banjir (f3). penelitian ini juga mengidentifikasi empat satuan batuan yang meliputi satuan batupasir julurayeu, satuan endapan kerakal-kerikil idi, satuan batupasir idi, dan satuan aluvium qh. berdasarkan hasil analisis hidrogeokimia menggunakan diagram stiff da piper, air tanah di daerah penelitian memiliki tipe cahco3 dan nahco3. karakteristik air tanah tersebut dipengaruhi oleh interaksi antara air tanah dan batuan sedimen penyusun akuifer melalui proses pelarutan mineral dan pertukaran ion.

Geographically, the study area is located at coordinates 5° 9' 56.41" – 5° 13' 12.68" N and 96° 52' 23.30"– 96° 54' 31.60"E, covering an area of 6×4 km². Administratively, the study area is located in Gandapura Subdistrict and its surroundings, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province. This study aims to determine the geological conditions as well as the characteristics of groundwater and their relationship with the geological conditions in the study area. The methods used include field geological mapping, petrographic analysis, and groundwater level (GWL) measurements for physical and chemical property analysis. The physical parameters analyzed include temperature, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and total dissolved solids (TDS), while the chemical parameters were analyzed based on the cation and anion content in the groundwater, which was then interpreted using Stiff and Piper diagrams. The results of the study indicate that the study area comprises four geomorphological units: Denudational (D1), Plain (D5), Fluvial (F1), and Floodplain (F3). This study also identified four rock units, including the Julurayeu Sandstone Unit, the Idi Gravel-Cobble Deposits Unit, the Idi Sandstone Unit, and the Qh Alluvium Unit. Based on the results of hydrogeochemical analysis using the Stiff and Piper diagrams, the groundwater in the study area is of the CaHCO₃ and NaHCO₃ types. These groundwater characteristics are influenced by the interaction between groundwater and the sedimentary rocks comprising the aquifer through mineral dissolution and ion exchange processes.
