FAYZA DEZULIANA, DETEKSI ANTIBODI TERHADAP NEWCASTLE DISEASE PADA JALAK KERBAU (ACRIDOTHERES JAVANICUS) DAN MERPATI (COLUMBA LIVIA). Banda Aceh Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan,2026

Abstract

Newcastle disease is a viral disease that affects various avian species and has the potential to cause significant economic losses. This study aimed to compare antibody titers against Newcastle Disease Virus in javan mynas (Acridotheres javanicus) and pigeons (Columba livia) in Banda Aceh City. An observational study design was employed by collecting blood serum samples from javan mynas and pigeons. Antibody titers were determined using the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test and analyzed descriptively to compare antibody responses between the two birds species. The results of the study showed the presence of ND virus antibodies and differences in antibody titers against the ND virus between the two birds species, with the javan mynas having a higher antibody titer than the pigeons. In javan mynas, there were 15 samples with antibody titer percentage of 53.6%. Meanwhile, in pigeons, 8 samples showed antibody titer ≥ 4 log⁡2, resulting in a protective antibody titer percentage of 28.6%. Therefore, javan mynas have sufficient antibodies to protect them from re-exposure to the ND virus.
