Abstract
Avian Influenza (AI) subtype H5N1 is a viral disease that can infect various types of birds and has the potential to spread in urban environments. This study aims to compare antibody titers against the AI virus subtype H5N1 in javan myna (Acridotheres javanicus) and pigeons (Columba livia) in Banda Aceh City. A total of 56 samples consisting of 28 samples of javan myna serum and 28 samples of pigeon blood serum were examined using a cross-sectional study method from 7 poultry shops around the Baiturrahman District area. Antibody detection was carried out using the Hemagglutination Assay (HA), back titration and Hemagglutination Inhibition (HI) with the AI antigen Subtype H5N1 and 1% erythrocytes. The results showed that all javan myna had protective antibody titers (>24), while in pigeons, low and non-protective antibody titers were still. The results showed variations in antibody titers in both bird species, indicating exposure to the H5N1 subtype of AI virus without clinical symptoms and its potential role in the epidemiology of avian influenza. It was concluded that there are differences in the immune response to the H5N1 AI virus between javan myna and pigeons. Keywords : Avian Influenza, H5N1, javan myna, pigeons, antibody titer.
