Serai dapur (cymbopogon citratus) merupakan salah satu tanaman herbal yang mengandung minyak atsiri dengan komponen utama sitral, geraniol, dan sitronelal yang diketahui memiliki aktivitas analgesik dan antiinflamasi. pencarian alternatif analgesik alami dengan efek samping yang lebih rendah dibandingkan analgesik sintetis terus berkembang, sehingga diperlukan inovasi sediaan topikal yang efektif dan aman. salah satu bentuk sediaan yang memiliki keunggulan dalam stabilitas, kemudahan aplikasi, serta higienitas adalah stick balsem. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui mutu fisik dan efektivitas analgesik sediaan stick balsem yang diformulasikan dari minyak atsiri c. citratus menggunakan metode uji hot plate pada hewan uji mencit (mus musculus). evaluasi mutu sediaan meliputi uji organoleptik, homogenitas, ph, daya oles, titik lebur, stabilitas dengan metode cycling test, serta uji iritasi kulit. sementara itu, uji efektivitas analgesik dilakukan untuk melihat peningkatan ambang nyeri setelah pemberian sediaan pada dua konsentrasi berbeda yaitu 10% dan 25%. hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa sediaan stick balsem memiliki bentuk semi padat yang homogen, berwarna kuning muda, dan beraroma khas minyak atsiri serai dapur. nilai ph sediaan berada pada rentang 5–6 yang sesuai dengan ph fisiologis kulit. sediaan memiliki daya oles yang baik, titik lebur sekitar 60°c, stabil secara fisik selama penyimpanan bertahap, dan tidak menimbulkan iritasi pada kulit. hasil uji analgesik menunjukkan adanya peningkatan efek analgesik pada kedua konsentrasi, dengan respons paling optimal ditunjukkan oleh formulasi 25%. dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa stick balsem minyak atsiri c. citratus memenuhi persyaratan mutu fisik sediaan topikal serta memiliki potensi sebagai analgesik yang efektif dalam mengurangi nyeri akut. kata kunci: cymbopogon citratus, minyak atsiri, stick balsem, analgesik, hot plate

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is one of the herbal plants that contains essential oil with main components such as citral, geraniol, and citronellal, which are known to have analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities. The search for natural analgesic alternatives with fewer side effects compared to synthetic analgesics continues to develop, therefore innovation of effective and safe topical preparations is needed. One of the dosage forms that has advantages in terms of stability, ease of application, and hygiene is stick balm. This study aims to determine the physical quality and analgesic effectiveness of stick balm preparations formulated from C. citratus essential oil using the hot plate test method on Mus musculus mice. The evaluation of the preparation included organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, melting point, stability using cycling test, and skin irritation test. Meanwhile, the analgesic effectiveness test was carried out to observe the increase in pain threshold after administration of the preparation at two different concentrations, namely 10% and 25%. The results showed that the stick balm preparation had a semi-solid form that was homogeneous, light yellow in color, with a characteristic aroma of lemongrass essential oil. The pH value of the preparation was in the range of 5–6 which is suitable for physiological skin pH. The preparation also had good spreadability, a melting point of around 60°C, physical stability during gradual storage, and did not cause skin irritation. The analgesic test results showed an increase in analgesic effect in both concentrations, with the most optimal response shown by the 25% formulation. Thus, it can be concluded that the stick balm of C. citratus essential oil meets the physical quality requirements of topical preparations and has the potential as an effective analgesic to reduce acute pain.
