SARA JIDRIA YUSFIRA, KEMAMPUAN LITERASI MATEMATIS SISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN MASALAH KONTEKSTUAL DITINJAU DARI ADVERSITY QUOTIENT (AQ). Banda Aceh Fakultas KIP,2026

Abstract

Mathematical literacy skills are important for students to understand and solve problems in real-life contexts. However, these skills are often influenced by non-cognitive factors such as Adversity Quotient (AQ), which is a student's resilience in facing difficulties. This study aims to describe students' mathematical literacy skills in solving contextual problems in terms of their AQ levels. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 18 Banda Aceh with 31 eighth-grade students as subjects using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through an AQ questionnaire, a mathematical literacy test based on the indicators of formulate, employ, and interpret, and interviews with nine selected students. The results showed that students in the climber category had high mathematical literacy skills, while students in the camper category were at a moderate level and were not consistent in interpreting results. Students in the camper category had low skills because they tended to solve problems without understanding the context and did not write conclusions accurately. This study concludes that the higher a student's Adversity Quotient (AQ), the better their mathematical literacy skills. Student resilience and fighting spirit are important factors in solving contextual problems. Keywords: Adversity Quotient (AQ), Contextual Problems, Mathematical Literacy
