Abstract

ABSTRACT Name : Sinta Ameliza Study Program : Dentistry Tittle : The Relationship of Demographic and Clinical Factors to Quality of Life Based on FACT-G (Study of Children with Cancer at the C-Four Shelter in Banda Aceh) Cancer in children can affect physical, emotional, social, and daily functioning, especially during chemotherapy. This study aims to analyze the relationship between demographic and clinical factors and the quality of life of children with cancer undergoing chemotherapy at the C-Four Shelter in Banda Aceh. The research method used a cross-sectional design with a sample size of 30 children who met the inclusion criteria. Quality of life was assessed using the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy–General (FACT-G) instrument, which covers four domains: Physical Well-Being (PWB), Social/Family Well-Being (SWB), Emotional Well-Being (EWB), and Functional Well-Being (FWB). Bivariate analysis was performed using Spearman's rho test and Mann–Whitney test. The results showed that most respondents had a moderate quality of life (80%), while 20% had a high quality of life. Age, gender, education level, type of treatment, duration of chemotherapy, last cycle of chemotherapy, oral/physical complaints, nutritional status and diet, and socioeconomic status were not significantly related to the four FACT-G domains (p>0.05). There was a significant relationship between place of residence and PWB (p=0.047) and EWB (p=0.030), cancer type and EWB (p=0.029), and chemotherapy frequency and SWB (p=0.036). The duration of cancer diagnosis was also significantly related to SWB (p=0.000), EWB (p=0.026), and FWB (p=0.001). The conclusion shows that the quality of life of children with cancer is influenced by several specific clinical and demographic factors, particularly the frequency of chemotherapy, place of residence, type of cancer, and duration of diagnosis. Keywords : Children with Cancer, Quality of Life, Chemotherapy, Demographic Factors, Clinical Factors, FACT-G.
