Abstract

Nadya Ukhrita. (2025). Perception of USK Biology Education Students in the Application of Project Based Learning (PjBL) Learning Model in Invertebrate Zoology Practicum. [Script. Universitas Syiah Kuala]. Under direction of Prof. Dr. M. Ali S., M.Si., and Yaumil Istiqlal M. Nur, S.Pd.I., M.Pd. The Project Based Learning (PjBL) model is recognized for its ability to develop the 4C skills (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication), but its application in the context of the Invertebrate Zoology Practicum course is still limited. This study aims to determine the perceptions and motivations of USK Biology Education students regarding the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in the Invertebrate Zoology Practicum at the Biology Education Laboratory, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, USK. The approach used was quantitative, with a survey research type. This study used a non-experimental observational method. The population and sample consisted of 145 USK Biology Education students from the 2022 and 2023 intakes, taken using a total sampling technique. The results showed that the application of PjBL in the Invertebrate Zoology Practicum obtained student perceptions with an average score of 25.87 for critical thinking skills, 26.24 for creative thinking skills, 26.16 for collaborative skills, and 75.69 for student motivation, which overall fell into the sufficient category. The conclusion of this study is that students' perceptions and motivation in implementing PjBL in Invertebrate Zoology Practicum are quite sufficient, because the implementation of PjBL contributes significantly to practical learning, especially in the aspects of critical thinking skills, creative thinking skills, collaborative skills, and learning motivation. Keywords: perception, motivation, project based learning, practicum, invertebrate zoology
