Dicky Ramadhan, STRUKTUR KOMUNITAS BIVALVIA DI ESTUARI GAMPONG GEUNTENG KECAMATAN BATEE KABUPATEN PIDIE.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the community structure and distribution patterns of bivalves and evaluate water quality in Geunteng Timur village, Batee subdistrict, Pidie district, Aceh province. The study was conducted from April to July 2025 at three stations using purposive sampling. Bivalve samples were collected using 1 m² transect squares, with five bivalves per station during low tide. Species identification was carried out at the Syiah Kuala University, Marine Biology Laboratory, and sediment analysis was carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture, Soil Laboratory. The results showed that there were 33 bivalve individuals from three main families: arcidae, mactridae, and tellinidae. The dominant species were Lutraria lutraria and Tellina timorensis 11 individuals each. The highest density was recorded at Station II 2.6 ind/m² with a diversity index (H’) of 1.26, evenness (E) of 0.91, and dominance (C) of 0.30. The distribution pattern of all bivalves at all stations was clustered. Water quality was within the optimal range, namely temperature 26–28°C, pH 6–7, salinity 30–32‰, and DO 3–4.5 mg/L, in accordance with the quality standards of PP No. 22 of 2021. The dominant substrate is silty clay. The analysis results show that the structure of the bivalve community is greatly influenced by habitat characteristics, especially substrate type and water quality. Station II shows the most favorable conditions for bivalve life due to the optimal combination of substrate and water parameters. Meanwhile, the clustered distribution pattern indicates habitat selectivity by species toward certain environmental conditions.
