Putri Gina Aprillya, KUALITAS AIR KOLAM INSTALASI PENGOLAHAN AIR LIMBAH (IPAL) TAMBAK UDANG VANAME (LITOPENAEUS VANNAMEI) DI LEUPUNG, ACEH BESAR. Banda Aceh Prodi Budidaya Perairan,2025

Abstract

Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) play a crucial role in maintaining pond water quality and reducing the potential for pollution arising from intensive whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) cultivation. This study aims to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the WWTP system through a Pollution Index (IP) analysis approach. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling method at three observation points: the inlet, the WWTP pond, and the outlet. The analysis results show that the IP value at the inlet ranges from 0.65–0.69 and still meets water quality standards. The IP value at the WWTP pond increases to 1.51–1.82, while at the outlet it ranges from 1.56–1.82, both of which are categorized as lightly polluted. The increase in IP values at each stage indicates that the WWTP treatment process has not been working optimally in reducing the pollutant load. Therefore, the WWTP system still requires increased effectiveness, especially through improvements in the aeration process and the application of advanced treatment technologies. This effort is expected to increase the efficiency of waste processing, so that wastewater becomes safer and supports the sustainability of shrimp farming in the Leupung area, Aceh Besar.
