Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of students' mathematical creative thinking through learning Probing Prompting model in accordance with the criteria of creative thinking ability. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive research type. The research subjects were students of class VIII-1 SMP Negeri 10 Banda Aceh as many as 24 students. Data collection was done through a description test designed in accordance with the indicators of creative thinking skills, namely fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The results showed that students' creative thinking skills were generally in the moderately creative category, with an average score of 9 out of a maximum score of 14 or equivalent to a percentage of 56.25%. The originality indicator obtained the highest achievement while the fluency indicator was the lowest. Based on these results, students' creative thinking skills through learning the Probing Prompting model have not fully met the expected completeness criteria, but this model still makes a positive contribution in encouraging students to think originally and independently in solving math problems.
