Penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas project-based learning (pjbl) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks deskriptif siswa serta mengeksplorasi respons siswa terhadap penerapannya di kelas efl (english as a foreign language). data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari dua kelas di inshafuddin boarding school: satu kelas eksperimen yang diajar menggunakan pjbl dan satu kelas kontrol yang diajar menggunakan metode konvensional. instrumen yang digunakan untuk pengumpulan data adalah pre-test, post-test, dan kuesioner. desain pre-test dan post-test digunakan untuk menilai kemampuan menulis siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa di kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan dalam menulis teks deskriptif, dengan rata-rata skor post-test dan skor n-gain yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. temuan juga mengungkapkan bahwa siswa merespons secara positif terhadap penerapan pjbl, dengan menyatakan bahwa metode ini meningkatkan kreativitas, motivasi, dan keterlibatan mereka dalam pembelajaran. secara keseluruhan, penggunaan project-based learning terbukti menjadi pendekatan yang efektif untuk mengembangkan keterampilan menulis deskriptif siswa dalam konteks bahasa inggris sebagai bahasa asing. kata kunci: menulis deskriptif, kelas eksperimen, project-based learning (pjbl)

Abstract
This descriptive quantitative research is aimed to examine the effectiveness of ProjectBased Learning (PjBL) in improving students’ ability to write descriptive texts and to explore students' responses toward its implementation in EFL classrooms. The data in this study were obtained from two classes at Inshafuddin Boarding School: one experimental class taught using PjBL and one control class taught using conventional methods. The instruments used for data collection were pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires. A pre-test and post-test design was used to assess students' writing performance before and after the treatment. The results showed that students in the experimental class demonstrated significant improvement in writing descriptive texts, with a higher average post-test score and N-Gain score compared to the control class. The findings also revealed that students responded positively to the implementation of PjBL, noting that it enhanced their creativity, motivation, and engagement in learning. Overall, the use of Project-Based Learning proved to be an effective approach for developing students' descriptive writing skills in the context of English as a foreign language.
