[skripsi sarjana, universitas syiah kuala]. dibimbing oleh prof. dr. zulfadli, s.pd., m.a. dan dr. dohra fitrisia, s.pd., m.ed. penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis-jenis permainan kata (wordplay) yang digunakan dalam video youtube foil, arms and hog. kanal youtube ini berfokus pada konten komedi, seperti stand-up comedy dan sketsa permainan kata. penelitian ini menggunakan teori dan klasifikasi permainan kata dari thaler (2016) sebagai dasar analisis. wawancara juga dilakukan untuk mengetahui respons responden terhadap video dan bentuk permainan kata yang ditampilkan. data dikumpulkan melalui lembar observasi, dengan menonton daftar putar (playlist) yang disediakan langsung oleh kanal youtube foil, arms and hog. analisis data dilakukan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar video dipenuhi dengan permainan kata secara konsisten. dengan menggunakan klasifikasi dari thaler (2016), bentuk permainan kata dapat diidentifikasi dengan lebih mudah. bagian analisis memberikan informasi linguistik yang relevan, sementara bagian wawancara menyajikan perspektif yang beragam dari setiap partisipan. hampir semua partisipan menyatakan bahwa mereka senang mempelajari permainan kata dan tertarik untuk lebih mendalami cabang linguistik ini. kata kunci: linguistik, permainan kata, youtube

Under the supervision Prof. Dr. Zulfadli, S.Pd., M.A. and Dr. Dohra Fitrisia, S.Pd., M.Ed.. This qualitative research aims at analyzing the types of wordplay used in the YouTube videos of Foil, Arms and Hog. This YouTube channel is focusing on the comedy such as, stand-up comedy and wordplay sketches. This research applied Thaler (2016) theory of wordplay and categorization for the analysis part. The interview part is done for looking at the reaction of respondent towards the video and the wordplay. The data is collected by using observation sheet. The researcher conducted observation by watching the playlist which provided by the YouTube channel Foil, Arms and Hog itself. In analyzing the data, the researcher used three steps, namely data condensation, data display, and conclusions. From the analysis, it was found that most of the videos was filled with constant wordplay. With using categorization from Thaler (2016) it was easy to spot on the wordplay. While the analyzing part is informing, the interview part is where the excitement is, because there is different perspective within each participant. Almost every participant declared happy to learn about wordplay in general and would like another chance to dive into this linguistics branch. Keywords: Linguistics, Wordplay, YouTube
