Abstract name : lisa rahmi student no : 0406102020016 student program : english education title : a comparative study between male and female students in comprehending a narrative text on reading comprehension (a comparative study at grade 2, semester 1, sma negri 4 dki jakarta, banda aceh) this study took place in senior high school 4 dki jakarta banda aceh. it is intended to figure out the differences between the second year male and female students in sma negeri 4 dki jakarta banda aceh in comprehending narrative text and to know whether the female students are better than male’s students in comprehending narrative text. the method which is used in this study was descriptive quantitative. the population of this study was the second year students of sma negeri 4 dki jakarta banda aceh, and the samples were 30 students of three classes which were taken by using random sampling. the instrument used was a set of written test which consists of 30 questions in multiple choices. the result of the test found that there isno significant difference of male and female students of sma negeri 4 dki jakarta, banda aceh in comprehending a narrative text. it can be seen from the result of t-score -0.155 and the t-table 1.70. it means that the male and female students do not have problem in comprehending narrative text. in addition, it is suggested the students should be aware of his/her ability to understand narrative text. because most of the students have reached the minimum completeness criteria (kkm) of their school, it is suggested to the students that they shouldmaintain and be more aware of his/her ability in understanding narrative text.
