Puteri ramadhani.j (2025). perbandingan indek prestasi kumulatif mahasiswa pendidikan sejarah ditinjau dari latar belakang jurusan ipa dan ips di sma. pendidikan sejarah yang ada pada departemen pendidikan sejarah fkip universitas syiah kuala merupakan pendidikan yang mempelajari tentang peristiwa masa lampau. sehingga sejak didirikan, diharapkan pendidikan sejarah bisa menerima siswa lulusan sma, khususnya jurusan ips untuk melanjutkan pendidikan perguruan tinggi jurusan pendidikan sejarah karena searah dengan mata pelajaran yang didapatkan sebelumnya di sekolah sehingga memudahkan mahasiswa mengikuti pelajaran sejarah tersebut. penelitian yang berjudul perbandingan indeks prestasi kumulatif mahasiswa pendidikan sejarah ditinjau dari latar belakang jurusan ipa dan ips di sma. dalam penelitian digunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif komparatif independen. populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh mahasiswa jurusan ipa dan ips departemen sejarah fkip universitas syiah kuala. sedangkan sampelnya 35 orang jurusan ipa dan 35 orang jurusan ips. teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi yakni dengan mengumpkan transkrip nilai mahasiswa yang tersimpan di departemen pendidikan sejarah fkip universitas syiah kuala. berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan di atas, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan ipk mahasiswa jurusan ips dan ipa pada departemen pendidikan sejarah fkip universitas syiah kuala, dimana rata-rata ipk jurusan ips sebesar 3,70 sedangkan jurusan ipa sebasar 3,67. hal ini diperkuat dengan nilai signifikan 0,007 < 0,05 dan nilai thitung 3,804 > ttabel 2,03, artinya terdapat perbedaan ipk mahasiswa jurusan ips dan ipa pada departemen pendidikan sejarah fkip universitas syiah kuala. kata kunci: perbandingan indeks prestasi kumulatif mahasiswa pendidikan sejarah ditinjau dari latar belakang jurusan ipa dan ips di sma.

Abstract
Puteri Ramadhani.J (2025). Comparison of Cumulative Grade Point Average of History Education Students Viewed from the High School Major Backgrounds of Science (IPA) and Social Studies (IPS). History education in the Department of History Education, FKIP, Syiah Kuala University is an education that studies past events. Therefore, since its establishment, it has been expected that history education can accept high school graduates, especially from the Social Studies (IPS) major, to continue their higher education in the history education major because it is in line with the subjects they previously studied at school, which makes it easier for students to follow the history lessons. The research entitled Comparison of Cumulative Grade Point Average of History Education Students Viewed from the High School Major Backgrounds of Science (IPA) and Social Studies (IPS) used a quantitative approach, with a descriptive comparative independent method. The population in this study consists of all students from Science and Social Studies majors in the Department of History Education, FKIP, Syiah Kuala University. The sample includes 35 students from the Science major and 35 students from the Social Studies major. The data collection technique used documentation, namely by collecting student transcripts stored in the Department of History Education, FKIP, Syiah Kuala University. Based on the research results and the discussion above, it can be concluded that there is a difference in GPA between students from the Social Studies and Science majors in the Department of History Education, FKIP, Syiah Kuala University, where the average GPA of Social Studies students is 3.70, while that of Science students is 3.67. This is supported by a significance value of 0.007 < 0.05 and a tcount value of 3.804 > t-table 2.03, which means there is a difference in GPA between students from the Social Studies and Science majors in the Department of History Education, FKIP, Syiah Kuala University.
