Ovariohisterektomi adalah prosedur operasi pengangkatan uterus dan ovarium pada kucing betina yang bertujuan untuk mengurangi populasi kucing liar dan mencegah penyakit zoonosis. namun, perawatan pasca operasi yang efektif sangat penting untuk memastikan kesembuhan yang optimal dan mencegah komplikasi. kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas pemberian propolis dalam manajemen perawatan pasca ovariohisterektomi pada kucing domestik. propolis adalah suatu zat yang dihasilkan oleh lebah madu yang memiliki sifat antibakteri, antiinflamasi, dan antioksidan. studi ini dilakukan pada kucing domestik yang menjalani ovariohisterectomi di balai besar pelatihan kesehatan hewan cinagara bogor. hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pemberian propolis dapat mempercepat proses penyembuhan luka operasi, mengurangi inflamasi, dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup kucing pasca operasi. selain itu, propolis juga dapat mengurangi penggunaan antibiotik dan mempercepat proses pemulihan pasca operasi. kegiatan ini menyimpulkan bahwa pemberian propolis dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif dalam manajemen perawatan pasca ovariohisterektomi pada kucing domestik, sehingga dapat meningkatkan hasil pengobatan dan kualitas hidup hewan. kata kunci: ovariohisterektomi, propolis, kucing domestik, perawatan pasca operasi, kesembuhan luka.

Ovariohysterectomy is a surgical procedure for the removal of the uterus and ovaries in female cats, aimed at reducing the population of stray cats and preventing zoonotic diseases. However, effective postoperative care is crucial to ensure optimal healing and prevent complications. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of propolis administration in the management of postoperative care following ovariohysterectomy in domestic cats. Propolis is a substance produced by honeybees that possesses antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. The study was conducted on domestic cats undergoing ovariohysterectomy at the Balai Besar Pelatihan Kesehatan Hewan Cinagara, Bogor. The results indicate that the administration of propolis can accelerate the healing process of surgical wounds, reduce inflammation, and improve the quality of life of cats post-surgery. Additionally, propolis may reduce the need for antibiotics and expedite the recovery process after surgery. This study concludes that propolis administration can be an alternative in the management of postoperative care following ovariohysterectomy in domestic cats, thereby enhancing treatment outcomes and the quality of life of the animals.
