[skripsi. universitas syiah kuala]. dibawah bimbingan drs. m. hasbi, m. pd., dan dr. khairul umam, s. si., m. a. edsc. kemampuan representasi matematis merupakan kemampuan peserta didik dalam menggunakan istilah atau ide-ide matematika yang ditunjukkan dengan menjabarkan gagasan matematika serta menyelesaikan masalah dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. namun kemampuan siswa dalam melakukan representasi matematis masih belum optimal. hasil observasi dan pemberian tes menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 18 dari 30 siswa yang masih kesulitan dalam membuat model matematika atau permasalahan matematis yang diberikan. salah satu usaha untuk meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yaitu dengan menerapkan pendekatan realistic mathematic. tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa setelah diterapkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan realistic mathematics. penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperiment dengan jenis desain pre-eksperimental. sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas viii smpn 8 banda aceh yang berjumlah 24 orang. teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa tes kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. instrumen yang digunakan yaitu soal tes. pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan uji-t berpasangan. berdasarkan hasil penelitian dengan tingkat signifikansi ∝=0,05 dan derajat kebebsan dk=23, diperoleh t_hitung adalah 31,14 dan t_((0,05;23) )=1,7139 sehingga t_hitung> t_tabel yaitu 31,14>1,7139, maka h_0 ditolak dan h_1diterima. sehingga, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa melalui penerapan pendekatan realistic mathematics di smpn 8 banda aceh. kata kunci: realistic mathematics, representasi, spldv

ABSTRACT Muliati (2025). Implementation of the Realistic Mathematics Approach to Improve Students' Mathematical Representation Ability in SPLDV Material at SMPN 8 Banda Aceh. [Thesis. Syiah Kuala University]. Under the guidance of Drs. M. Hasbi, M. Pd., and Dr. Khairul Umam, S. Si., M. A. Edsc. Mathematical representation ability is the ability of students to use mathematical terms or ideas which is shown by describing mathematical ideas and solving problems in everyday life. However, students' ability to do mathematical representation is still not optimal. The results of observations and tests showed that there were 18 out of 30 students who still had difficulty in making mathematical models or mathematical problems given. One effort to improve students' mathematical representation ability is to apply a realistic mathematics approach. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' mathematical representation ability after learning with the Realistic Mathematics approach was applied. This study uses a quantitative approach. This type of research is an experiment with a pre-experimental design type. The sample of this study was 24 students of class VIII of SMPN 8 Banda Aceh. The data collection technique used in this study was a test of students' mathematical representation ability. The instrument used was a test question. Hypothesis testing was carried out using a paired t-test. Based on the results of the study with a significance level of ∝=0.05 and a degree of freedom dk=23, the calculated t_count=31.14 and t_((0.05;23) )=1.7139 so that the calculated t_count> t_table is 31.14>1.7139, then H_0 is rejected and H_1 is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an increase in students' mathematical representation abilities through the application of the Realistic Mathematics approach at SMPN 8 Banda Aceh.
