Perubahan warna gigi merupakan masalah estetika yang sering diatasi dengan teknik dental bleaching. karbamid peroksida 10% merupakan bahan bleaching yang efektif dalam memutihkan gigi namun memiliki efek samping seperti penurunan kekerasan dan perubahan pada morfologi pada email gigi. upaya meminimalkan efek samping tersebut, dilakukan penelitian mengenai nitrogen carbon dots (ncds) yang merupakan salah satu bahan nanomaterial baru subkelas nanopartikel berbasis karbon yang aplikasinya sudah banyak dikembangkan salah satunya yaitu fotokatalisis. peranan bahan fotokatalis dalam bahan bleaching berpotensi dapat meningkatkan efektivitas hidrogen peroksida dalam pemutihan gigi. tujuan: penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membuat gel bleaching berbasis karbamid peroksida 10% dengan penambahan nitrogen carbon dots (ncds) dari belimbing wuluh (averrhoa bilimbi l.), serta menganalisis efeknya terhadap struktur permukaan email gigi sapi (bovine teeth) melalui perubahan struktur permukaan email. metode: ncds disintesis melalui metode gelombang mikro menggunakan urea dan sari belimbing wuluh, kemudian 20% ncds dicampurkan ke dalam gel berbasis karbopol dan aristoflex. kemudian dioleskan pada permukaan gigi dengan menggunakan syringe. kemudian disimpan di inkubator dengan suhu 37◦c selama 24 jam per hari selama 7 hari. hasil: gel karbamid peroksida 10% buatan dengan penambahan ncds dari belimbing wuluh dapat menjadi alternatif gel bleaching yang lebih aman dan efektif untuk memutihkan gigi.



Abstract

Tooth discoloration is an aesthetic problem that is often addressed with dental bleaching techniques. Carbamide peroxide 10% is an effective bleaching agent in whitening teeth but has side effects such as decreased hardness and changes in the morphology of tooth enamel. The materials commonly used are hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide, but some case reports of the use of these bleaching materials can cause side effects. In an effort to minimise these side effects, research was conducted on Nitrogen Carbon Dots (NCDs) which is one of the new nanomaterials in the subclass of carbon-based nanoparticles whose applications have been widely developed, one of which is photocatalysis. The role of photocatalysts in bleaching agents can potentially increase the effectiveness of hydrogen peroxide in teeth whitening. Objective: This study was conducted to make a 10% carbamide peroxide-based bleaching gel with the addition of Nitrogen Carbon Dots (NCDs) from bilimbi fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.), and analyze its effect on the surface structure of bovine teeth through changes in enamel surface structure. Methods: NCDs were synthesized by microwave method using urea and bilimbi fruit juice, then 20% NCDs were mixed into carbopol and aristoflex based gel. It was then applied to the tooth surface using a syringe. Then stored in an incubator at 37°c for 24 hours per day for 7 days. Results: Artificial 10% carbamide peroxide gel with the addition of NCDs from bilimbi fruit can be an alternative bleaching gel that is safer and more effective for teeth whitening.
