(2025). analisis gaya bahasa yang digunakan oleh pembicara dalam acara talk show “the late late show with james corden” [skripsi]. di bawah bimbingan prof. zulfadli a. aziz, s.pd., m.a., dan dr. muhammad aulia, s.pd., m.tesol. m.a. penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis gaya bahasa dan fungsi bahasa yang digunakan oleh seorang pembicara yaitu adele, dalam acara talkshow yang berjudul the late late show with james corden. penelitian ini menggunakan teori joos (1967) mengenai gaya bahasa dan teori holmes (2013) mengenai fungsi ujaran bahasa. gaya bahasa dibagi menjadi lima gaya yaitu gaya beku, gaya formal, gaya konsultatif, gaya santai dan gaya intim. sedangkan fungsi bahasa dibagi menjadi 8 fungsi yaitu fungsi ekspresif, fungsi direktif, fungsi referensial, fungsi metalinguistik, fungsi puitis, fungsi fatis, fungsi heuristik dan fungsi komisif. peneliti melakukan observasi dengan menonton video talkshow yang berdurasi 14:52 menit. dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan empat langkah, yaitu kondensasi data, display data, verifikasi data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. dari hasil analisis, peneliti menemukan bahwa adele sebagai pembicara dalam acara talk show the late late show with james corden menggunakan tiga gaya bahasa, yaitu gaya santai sebanyak 31 kali (94%), gaya intim sebanyak 1 kali (3%), dan gaya formal sebanyak 1 kali (3%). dan tiga fungsi bahasa: fungsi ekspresif dengan 17 kemunculan (52%), fungsi referensial dengan 12 kemunculan (36%), dan fungsi fatis dengan 4 kemunculan (12%). hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa gaya santai dan fungsi ekspresif adalah yang paling dominan digunakan dalam talkshow. hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa talkshow sering menggunakan bahasa yang informal dan ekspresif untuk menciptakan suasana yang santai dan menarik. kata kunci: gaya bahasa, fungsi bahasa, james corden, talkshow.

ABSTRACT Putri Jeumpa Puspita. (2025). An Analysis of Language Style Used by a Speaker in “The Late Late Show with James Corden” Talk Show [Undergraduate Thesis]. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zulfadli A. Aziz, S.Pd., M.A., and Dr. Muhammad Aulia, S.Pd., M.TESOL. M.A. This descriptive qualitative research is aimed at analyzing types of language style and language function used by a speaker namely Adele, in the talk show entitled The Late Late Show with James Corden. This research applied Joos‟ theory (1967) about language style, and Holmes‟ theory (2013) about the function of language utterance. Language styles are divided into five styles such as frozen style, formal style, consultative style, casual style and intimate style. While language functions are divided into 8 functions such as expressive function, directive function, referential function, metalinguistic function, poetic function, phatic function, heuristic function and commissives function. The researcher conducted observation by watching the talk show video with the duration of 14:52 minutes. In analyzing the data, the researcher used four steps, namely data condensation, data display, data verification and conclusion drawing. From the analysis, the researcher found that Adele, as the speaker in The Late Late Show with James Corden talk show, performed three language styles; casual style with 31 occurrences (94%), intimate style with 1 occurrence (3%), and formal style with 1 occurrence (3%). And three language functions: expressive function with 17 occurrences (52%), referential function with 12 occurrences (36%), and phatic function with 4 occurrences (12%). The results of this study show that casual style and expressive function are the most dominant used in the talk show. This indicates that talk shows often use informal and expressive language to create a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. Keywords: Language style, Language Function, James Corden, Talk show.
