Patient safety merupakan isu penting dalam pelayanan kesehatan yang harus dipahami oleh mahasiswa keperawatan sebagai calon tenaga profesional. kurangnya kesiapan dalam tanggung jawab, pelaporan insiden, miskomunikasi, dan pelanggaran etika profesi menunjukkan bahwa sikap terhadap patient safety belum terbentuk secara optimal. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan sikap terhadap patient safety yang mencakup enam dimensi utama pada mahasiswa pendidikan profesi ners fakultas keperawatan universitas syiah kuala. desain penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. sampel terdiri dari 118 mahasiswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik total sampling. instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner attitudes to patient safety questionnaire (apsq), dan analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif dengan menyajikan distribusi frekuensi, persentase, serta rata-rata skor setiap domain sikap. hasil menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas responden memiliki sikap baik terhadap patient safety (63,6%). dimensi pelaporan insiden menunjukkan persentase tertinggi (72%), disusul kesadaran (70,3%), tanggung jawab (63,6%), pelatihan (58,5%), kerja sama tim (55,1%), serta organisasi dan komunikasi (54,2%). hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa aspek organisasi, komunikasi, dan pelatihan masih perlu ditingkatkan. bagi mahasiswa, penting untuk membentuk sikap proaktif dan bertanggung jawab dalam menjaga keselamatan pasien. bagi institusi pendidikan, hasil ini dapat dijadikan dasar untuk memperkuat strategi pembelajaran, termasuk pelatihan berbasis simulasi, penguatan kurikulum patient safety, serta penciptaan budaya keselamatan pasien di lingkungan akademik dan praktik klinis.



Abstract

Patient safety is a critical issue in healthcare services and must be well understood by nursing students as future healthcare professionals. Insufficient preparedness in assuming responsibility, underreporting of incidents, miscommunication, and breaches of professional ethics indicate that attitudes toward patient safety have not been optimally established. This study aimed to examine attitudes toward patient safety across six core dimensions among students enrolled in the Profession Ners Education Program at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Syiah Kuala. A descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The sample consisted of 118 students selected through a total sampling method. The instrument used is the Attitudes to Patient Safety Questionnaire (APSQ), and it was analyzed descriptively by presenting frequency distributions, percentages, and mean scores for each attitude domain. The results revealed that the majority of respondents (63.6%) demonstrated a positive attitude toward patient safety. The highest scores were observed in the dimension of incident reporting (72%), followed by awareness (70.3%), responsibility (63.6%), training (58.5%), teamwork (55.1%), and organization and communication (54.2%). These findings indicate that the domains of organizational support, communication, and training still require improvement. For students, it is essential to cultivate proactive and accountable attitudes to safeguard patient safety. For educational institutions, these results can serve as a foundation for strengthening learning strategies, including simulation-based training, enhancing patient safety curricula, and promoting a safety culture within both academic and clinical practice environments.
