Salma Ulayya Majidah, DETEKSI CEMARAN BAKTERI AEROMONAS HYDROPHILA PADA KOLAM IKAN NILA (OREOCHROMIS NILOTICUS) DI LOKASI ACEH FISHERIES KAJHU KECAMATAN BAITUSSALAM ACEH BESAR. Banda Aceh Fakultas FKH,2025

Abstract

Aeromonas hydrophila is a Gram negative bacterium that causes Motile Aeromonas Septicemia (MAS) in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), with a mortality rate of up to 80–100%. This study aims to detect the presence of A. hydrophila contamination in pond water and fish at the Aceh Fisheries site in Aceh Besar. A total of nine samples were collected, including water samples from the hatchery pond 1, broodstock pond 1, grow-out ponds 2, harvest ponds 2, and fish samples from diseased and dead tilapia in the harvest ponds 3. Bacterial isolation and identification were carried out through culture methods and biochemical tests. The results showed that A. hydrophila was detected in water samples from grow-out pond 2 (biofloc) and harvest pond 2 (concrete), as well as in two fish samples. These findings indicate that the pond environment, particularly the harvest ponds, is contaminated with A. hydrophila, which may contribute to disease outbreaks and fish mortality. Continuous monitoring of water quality and bacterial contamination is necessary to prevent further losses in tilapia farming. Keywords: Aeromonas hydrophila, pond water, bacterial contamination, Nile tilapia.
