Usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah (umkm) memiliki peran strategis dalam perekonomian indonesia, berkontribusi sebesar 61% terhadap pdb dan menyerap 97% tenaga kerja. di kota banda aceh, pertumbuhan umkm cukup positif, meski masih menghadapi tantangan seperti keterbatasan teknologi dan efisiensi operasional. penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh metode just in time (jit) terhadap kinerja operasional umkm, dengan total quality management (tqm) sebagai variabel mediasi. penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan data dari 100 pelaku umkm sektor makanan, minuman, dan jasa di banda aceh yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling. analisis dilakukan menggunakan regresi berganda dan uji sobel dengan bantuan spss versi 27. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jit berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan kinerja operasional melalui pengelolaan pemasok, tata letak produksi, dan pelatihan karyawan. tqm juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja melalui kepemimpinan, perencanaan strategis, dan orientasi pelanggan. tqm terbukti memediasi hubungan antara jit dan kinerja operasional, menunjukkan bahwa penerapan jit lebih efektif bila didukung oleh praktik manajemen kualitas secara menyeluruh. kata kunci: umkm, just in time (jit), total quality management (tqm), kinerja operasional, mediasi.



Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in Indonesia's economy, contributing 61% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and absorbing 97% of the workforce. In Banda Aceh, MSMEs show positive growth despite facing challenges such as limited access to technology and low operational efficiency. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Just in Time (JIT) method on the operational performance of MSMEs, with Total Quality Management (TQM) as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed, using data collected from 100 MSME actors in the food, beverage, and service sectors in Banda Aceh, selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using multiple regression and the Sobel test with the assistance of SPSS version 27.The results indicate that JIT significantly improves operational performance through supplier management, production layout, and employee training. TQM also has a significant effect on performance through leadership, strategic planning, and customer focus. Furthermore, TQM is proven to mediate the relationship between JIT and operational performance, indicating that the implementation of JIT is more effective when supported by integrated quality management practices.
