Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos dalam film miracle in cell no. 7 versi indonesia dengan menggunakan pendekatan teori semiotika roland barthes. film ini dipilih karena mengandung narasi emosional yang kuat antara seorang ayah yang menyandang disabilitas intelektual dan putrinya, serta memuat pesan moral yang relevan dengan realitas sosial, seperti nilai kasih sayang, kejujuran, pengorbanan, dan tanggung jawab. metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik analisis semiotika roland barthes. data dikumpulkan dari sejumlah adegan film yang dianalisis berdasarkan makna denotasi, makna denotasi, serta makna mitos yang terkandung di dalamnya. penelitian ini juga menelaah aspek sinematografi, simbolisme budaya, serta nilai-nilai moral berdasarkan perspektif burhan nurgiyantoro. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film ini menggunakan banyak simbol visual untuk membangun pesan moral dan menyampaikan kritik sosial. gestur sederhana seperti pelukan, lambaian tangan, tepuk tangan, hingga ekspresi wajah sarat dengan makna emosional dan budaya. selain itu, film ini juga menjadi media reflektif terhadap isu-isu sosial seperti fenomena fatherless, keterbatasan difabel, dan pentingnya relasi emosional dalam keluarga. kesimpulannya, film miracle in cell no. 7 versi indonesia tidak hanya menyajikan kisah dramatis, tetapi juga menyampaikan nilai-nilai moral dan kemanusiaan melalui lapisan-lapisan makna yang kompleks. film ini layak dijadikan objek kajian akademik dalam ranah ilmu komunikasi. kata kunci: semiotika roland barthes, film, pesan moral, denotasi, konotasi, mitos, miracle in cell no 7

Abstract
This study aims to analyze the meanings of denotation, connotation, and myth in the Indonesian version of the film Miracle in Cell No. 7 using Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory. The film was chosen due to its strong emotional narrative between a father with intellectual disabilities and his daughter, as well as its moral messages that reflect social realities, such as the values of affection, honesty, sacrifice, and responsibility. The research method employed is a descriptive qualitative approach using the semiotic analysis technique developed by Roland Barthes. Data were collected from several selected scenes and analyzed based on their denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings. This study also examines elements of cinematography, cultural symbolism, and moral values based on the perspective of Burhan Nurgiyantoro. The findings reveal that the film makes extensive use of visual symbols to construct moral messages and convey social criticism. Simple gestures such as hugging, waving, clapping hands, and facial expressions carry emotional and cultural significance. Furthermore, the film functions as a reflective medium addressing social issues such as the phenomenon of fatherlessness, the limitations faced by individuals with disabilities, and the importance of emotional relationships within the family. In conclusion, Miracle in Cell No. 7 (Indonesian version) not only presents a dramatic storyline but also delivers moral and humanitarian values through layered and meaningful visual narratives. This film is worthy of academic study within the fields of communication and cultural studies.
