Kompetensi manajerial kepala sekolah dalam implementasi kurikulum merdeka di sekolah menengah pertama banda aceh oleh : sukiawati npm : 2309200050010 komisi pembimbing : 1. dr. niswanto, m. pd. 2. dr. ismail, m. pd. abstrak dalam implementasi kurikulum merdeka, memerlukan perencanaan yang terstruktur berupa strategi-strategi yang dapat dilakukan selama proses pembelajaran. kepala sekolah sebagai penanggung jawab sekolah perlu mengadakan pembinaan khusus kepada guru-guru mengenai kebijakan kurikulum merdeka, agar guru-guru mempersiapkan pembelajarannya sesuai dengan kebijakan kurikulum merdeka. kepala sekolah juga perlu rutin melakukan monitoring mengenai kekurangan ataupun hambatan yang kemungkinan terjadi dalam pelaksanaan kurikulum merdeka di sekolah. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana kompetensi manajerial kepala sekolah dalam implementasi kurikulum merdeka di sekolah menengah pertama banda aceh, dengan fokus pada aspek perencanaan, implementasi serta hambatan. pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus digunakan, melibatkan wawancara, observasi lapangan dan dokumentasi sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah memiliki kompetensi yang baik dalam perencanaan strategis, implementasi, serta pengelolaan tantangan selama penerapan kurikulum. perencanaan dilakukan melalui rapat kerja awal tahun dengan melibatkan berbagai pemangku kepentingan guna menyusun program pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan visi dan misi sekolah. dalam implementasi, kepala sekolah mengoptimalkan sumber daya, mendorong pembelajaran inovatif, serta memberikan dukungan kepada guru melalui pelatihan dan supervisi. namun, terdapat beberapa hambatan seperti keterbatasan sarana dan prasarana, perbedaan pemahaman tentang kurikulum merdeka, serta tingginya beban administratif. dengan pendekatan kolaboratif dan solusi adaptif, kepala sekolah berupaya mengatasi tantangan ini. keberhasilan implementasi kurikulum merdeka di banda aceh masih memerlukan dukungan berkelanjutan dari pemerintah, orang tua, dan komunitas sekolah agar program dapat berjalan secara efektif dan berkelanjutan. kata kunci: kompetensi manajerial, kepala sekolah, kurikulum merdeka, implementasi, sekolah



Abstract

PRINCIPALS’ MANAGERIAL COMPETENCE IN IMPLEMENTING THE MERDEKA CURRICULUM AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN BANDA ACEH ABSTRACT (Sukiawati) In the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, structured planning is required in the form of strategies that can be applied during the learning process. The principal, as the person responsible for the school, needs to provide special guidance to teachers regarding the Merdeka Curriculum policy to ensure that they prepare their lessons in accordance with its guidelines. Additionally, the principal must regularly monitor any deficiencies or obstacles that may arise during the curriculum’s implementation. This study aimed to analyze the principal’s managerial competence in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in junior high schools in Banda Aceh, focusing on the planning, implementation, and challenges. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed, utilizing interviews, field observations, and document analysis as data collection techniques. The findings indicated that the principal demonstrated strong competence in strategic planning, implementation, and problem-solving throughout the curriculum’s execution. Planning was conducted through an early-year work meeting involving various stakeholders to develop a learning program aligned with the school’s vision and mission. During implementation, the principal optimized resources, promoted innovative teaching methods, and provided support to teachers through training and supervision. However, several challenges were encountered, including limited facilities and infrastructure, varying levels of understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum, and heavy administrative burdens. Through a collaborative approach and adaptive solutions, principals worked to address these challenges. Sustained support from the government, parents, and school communities is needed to ensure the successful implementation of the Independent Merdeka in Banda Aceh and to maintain its effectiveness and sustainability.
