Tinggong adalah salah satu varietas padi lokal aceh yang memiliki kemampuan adaptasi yang baik namun berbatang tinggi, berumur dalam, rentan terhadap penyakit, tidak tahan terhadap rendaman dan mudah rebah sehingga dapat memperbesar kehilangan hasil. varietas swarna memiliki keunggulan seperti umur yang genjah, berbatang pendek, tahan terhadap rendaman serta produksi yang tinggi. pemanfaatan varietas swarna dilakukan dengan tujuan perbaikan terhadap varietas tinggong. penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kebun percobaan rumah kasa dan laboratorium genetika dan pemuliaan tanaman fakultas pertanian universitas syiah kuala, darussalam-banda aceh, mulai dari bulan oktober 2022 sampai dengan april 2023. benih yang digunakan adalah bc4f2 dan bc3f3 hasil persilangan padi tinggong dan swarna. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanaman padi hasil persilangan tinggong dan swarna yang cukup prospektif untuk diteliti selanjutnya adalah bc3f3 t41.8.8.6 (tanaman nomor 1 dan 3), bc3f3 t41.8.1.4 (tanaman nomor 1 dan 6), dan bc3f3 t41.9.5.1 (tanaman nomor 1, 2, 3, 4 dan 5)



Abstract

Tinggong is one of the local Aceh rice varieties that has good adaptability but has a tall stem, is long-lived, is susceptible to disease, is not resistant to submergence and is easy to fall over so that it can increase yield losses. The Swarna variety has advantages such as early maturity, short stems, resistance to submergence and high production. The use of the Swarna variety is carried out with the aim of improving the Tinggong variety. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Screen House and the Laboratory of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam-Banda Aceh, from October 2022 to April 2023. The seeds used were BC4F2 and BC3F3, the result of a cross between Tinggong and Swarna rice. The results showed that the rice plants resulting from the Tinggong and Swarna crosses that were quite prospective for further study were BC3F3 T41.8.8.6 (plants number 1 and 3), BC3F3 T41.8.1.4 (plants number 1 and 6), and BC3F3 T41.9.5.1 (plants number 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5).
