Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis kemasan, lama simpan, serta interaksi antara jenis kemasan dan lama simpan terhadap viabilitas benih kacang tanah. penelitian dilaksanakan di laboratorium ilmu dan teknologi benih, fakultas pertanian universitas syiah kuala. penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan juli sampai oktober 2024. penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial 4 x 3 dengan 3 ulangan sehingga terdapat 36 unit percobaan. faktor pertama yang diteliti adalah jenis kemasan yang terdiri dari kantong plastik, kantong plastik silikon, toples kaca, dan aluminium foil. faktor kedua adalah lama penyimpanan yang terdiri dari 1 bulan, 2 bulan, dan 3 bulan. hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan jenis kemasan berpengaruh terhadap viabilitas kacang tanah. jenis kemasan terbaik yaitu kantong plastik berdasarkan peubah indeks vigor. perlakuan lama simpan berpengaruh terhadap viabilitas kacang tanah. lama simpan terbaik yaitu 2 bulan berdasarkan peubah indeks vigor dan daya berkecambah. kombinasi antara jenis kemasan plastik dan lama simpan berpengaruh terhadap viabilitas kacang tanah. kombinasi terbaik yaitu jenis kemasan plastik dan penyimpanan 2 bulan menghasilkan indeks vigor sebesar 32,00%

This research aims to determine the effect of packaging type, storage time, and the interaction between packaging type and storage time on the viability of peanut seeds. This research was carried out at the Seed Science and Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University. This research was conducted from July to October 2024. This study used a 4 x 3 factorial completely randomized design with 3 replications so that there were 36 experimental units. The first factor studied was the type of packaging consisting of plastic bags, silicone plastic bags, glass jars, and aluminum foil. The second factor was the length of storage consisting of 1 month, 2 months, and 3 months. The results showed that the type of packaging treatment had an effect on the viability of peanuts. The best type of packaging is a plastic bag based on the vigor index variable. Long storage treatment affects the viability of peanuts. The best storage time is 2 months based on vigor index variables and germination power. The combination of type of plastic packaging and storage time influences the viability of peanuts. The best combination, namely plastic packaging and 2 months of storage, produces a vigor index of 32.00%.
