Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of pregnant women in choosing the right work clothes. Formal work clothing models for pregnant women provided by agencies have not met the standards of comfort and flexibility for the condition of pregnant women. Some pregnant women find it difficult to determine the design of work clothing models that are suitable for the change in their body shape, but still pay attention to the uniform provisions of the agency where they work This research aims to design formal and semi-formal work clothing models for working pregnant women and to find out the responses of pregnant women to the design of formal and semi-formal work clothing models from the researcher's design. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects consisted of 6 mothers who had been pregnant and worked in government or private agencies. The selection of subjects used the purposive sampling technique. The object of this study is the design of formal and semi-formal work clothes for pregnant women at work that are multi-functional, comfortable, and clothing that is suitable for their working conditions. Data collection is carried out through three techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The instruments used to collect data consist of recording devices, cameras and questionnaires. The results of the study show that the author has made 10 work clothes designs for pregnant women consisting of 5 formal work wear designs and 5 semi-formal work wear designs. The response of pregnant women to the formal and semi-formal work clothing design designed by the researcher as a whole has been very good, only a little improvement is needed. The researcher's designs that are most in demand by the resource persons are semi-formal work clothes model III and semi-formal work clothes model IV. The advice in this study for pregnant women is that they need to pay attention to the fact that their work clothes must be comfortable to use for a long time to work in order to maintain the stamina of pregnant women when working. For local designers, it is hoped that they can be more inclusive in learning about designing work clothes for pregnant women.
