Kabupaten aceh barat merupakan wilayah dengan potensi ekonomi dan sosial yang signifikan, serta memiliki posisi strategis sebagai daerah penghubung di sepanjang pantai barat-selatan provinsi aceh. meskipun telah memiliki terminal tipe a yang dibangun sejak tahun 2014 di gampong ujong tanjong, kecamatan meureubo, operasional terminal tersebut hingga kini belum maksimal. beberapa kendala utama meliputi keterbatasan prasarana jalan dan lokasi terminal yang jauh dari pusat kota serta pusat aktivitas ekonomi. padahal, berdasarkan peraturan bupati aceh barat nomor 26 tahun 2019, terminal ini seharusnya menjadi pusat terpadu bagi operasional terminal tipe c. ketidakefisienan ini berdampak pada penurunan pendapatan dan minimnya aktivitas transportasi selama tahun 2024. oleh karena itu, diperlukan pemindahan lokasi dan penataan ulang terminal tipe a kabupaten aceh barat agar dapat berfungsi secara optimal. pembangunan ulang terminal di lokasi yang strategis dan mudah diakses diharapkan mampu meningkatkan mobilitas, menciptakan lapangan kerja baru, dan mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi wilayah secara keseluruhan.

West Aceh Regency is a region with significant economic and social potential and holds a strategic position as a connecting area along the West-South Coast of Aceh Province. Although a Type A terminal was constructed in 2014 in Gampong Ujong Tanjong, Meureubo District, its operation has remained suboptimal. The main obstacles include poor road infrastructure and the terminal’s distant location from the city center and economic hubs. According to West Aceh Regent Regulation Number 26 of 2019, the terminal was intended to serve as the integrated center for Type C terminal operations. However, operational inefficiency has led to reduced revenue and a lack of transport activities throughout 2024. Therefore, relocating and redesigning the Type A terminal in a more strategic and accessible location is necessary to ensure its optimal function. The redevelopment is expected to enhance mobility, create new employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall economic development of West Aceh Regency.
