Abstrak penggunaan gadget di kalangan remaja semakin luas dan memiliki berbagai pengaruh terhadap interaksi sosial, pola pikir, serta psikologis yang berdampak pada kestabilan emosi remaja, penggunaan gadget yang berlebihan dapat menyebabkan perubahan emosi seperti kemarahan, kehilangan fokus belajar, terganggunya aktivitas sehari-hari atau bahkan kekhawatiran hingga depresi. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan penggunaan gadget dengan perkembangan emosional pada remaja sekolah menengah pertama di banda aceh. desain penelitian ini adalah cross-sectional dengan pendekatan deskriptif korelatif. pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan teknik total sampling yaitu 277 siswa kelas vii smp negeri 8 banda aceh. instrumen yang digunakan yaitu kuesioner smartphone addiction scale-short version (sas-sv) dan strengths and difficulties questionnaire (sdq). analisis data menggunakan uji spearman correlation. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara penggunaan gadget dengan perkembangan emosional skala kesulitan dan skala kekuatan dengan nilai p-value (p



Abstract

ABSTRACT Gadget use among adolescents has become increasingly widespread and influences various aspects of their lives, including social interaction, thought patterns, and psychological well-being, all of which affect emotional stability. Excessive use of gadgets may lead to emotional changes such as irritability, loss of academic focus, disrupted daily activities, or even anxiety and depression. This study aimed to examine the relationship between gadget use and emotional development among junior high school students in Banda Aceh. The research employed a cross-sectional design with a descriptive correlational approach. The sample consisted of 277 seventh-grade students from State Junior High School 8 in Banda Aceh, selected using total sampling. The instruments used were the Smartphone Addiction Scale–Short Version (SAS-SV) and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman correlation test. The results showed a relationship between gadget use and emotional development, both in terms of difficulties and strengths, with a p-value < 0.000, indicating a strong correlation among junior high school adolescents in Banda Aceh. It is recommended that adolescent gadget use be limited and monitored by parents to prevent negative impacts and to support healthier emotional growth and development..
