Prevelensi diabetes melitus mengalami peningkatan sehingga dibutuhkan pengawasan dan pemantauan untuk penatalaksanaannya dengan tepat. tingginya kasus diabetes melitus secara tidak langsung akan memberikan peningkatan pada komplikasi. diabetes melitus akan bertambah buruk jika pasien tidak berusaha untuk merawat dirinya dengan baik. tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan self-efficacy dengan kejadian komplikasi pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 di rsudza kota banda aceh. penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross-sectional dengan teknik purposive sampling yang melibatkan 130 responden. teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan wawancara terpimpin menggunakan kuesioner diabetes management self-efficacy scale (dmses) dan catatan medis pasien. data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan analisis bivariat dengan uji chi-square. hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya hubungan self-efficacy dengan kejadian komplikasi pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 di rsudza kota banda aceh (p-value= 0,016). berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara self-efficacy dengan kejadian komplikasi pada diabetes melitus tipe 2, dengan pasien yang memiliki self-efficacy yang rendah, cenderung lebih tinggi mengalami komplikasi yang lebih serius. saran dari penelitian ini adalah perlunya upaya yang berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan self-efficacy pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2, agar pasien dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan keyakinan diri dalam mengelola penyakit, sehingga dapat mencegah perburukan komplikasi serta munculnya komplikasi baru.

The prevalence of diabetes mellitus has increased so that supervision and monitoring are needed for proper management. The high incidence of diabetes mellitus will indirectly lead to an increase in complications. Diabetes mellitus will get worse if patients do not try to take good care of themselves. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and the incidence of complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at RSUDZA in Banda Aceh. This study used a cross-sectional design with purposive sampling technique involving 130 respondents. Data collection techniques in this study were conducted by guided interviews using the Diabetes Management Self-efficacy Scale (DMSES) questionnaire and patient medical records. The research data were analyzed using bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test. The results showed a relationship between self-efficacy and the incidence of complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at RSUDZA Banda Aceh City (p-value = 0.016). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and the incidence of complications in type 2 diabetes mellitus, with patients who have low self-efficacy, tending to experience more serious complications. The suggestion of this study is the need for continuous efforts to improve self-efficacy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, so that patients can increase motivation and confidence in managing the disease, so as to prevent worsening complications and the emergence of new complications.
