Abstract

Ischemic stroke can cause patients to lose functionality in physical, emotional, and social aspects, negatively impacting their quality of life. Good behavior from family caregivers is essential to assist ischemic stroke patients in performing daily activities. This study aims to determine the relationship between family caregiver behavior and the quality of life of ischemic stroke patients at the Medical Rehabilitation Clinic of RSUDZA Banda Aceh. This research utilized an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with 49 respondents. Family caregiver behavior was assessed using a Likert scale-based questionnaire, while the quality of life of ischemic stroke patients was measured using the standardized SF-36 questionnaire. The study showed that 53% of family caregivers exhibited good behavior, and 63.3% of ischemic stroke patients had a good quality of life. Statistical analysis using Spearman Rank Correlation revealed a significant relationship between family caregiver behavior and the quality of life of ischemic stroke patients, with a p-value < 0.001 and a robust correlation coefficient. In conclusion, this study found a significant relationship between family caregiver behavior and the quality of life of ischemic stroke patients. Keywords: behavior, family caregiver, quality of life, ischemic stroke.
