Abstrak konservasi eksitu gajah sumatra (elephas maximus sumatranus) di pusat konservasi gajah (pkg) saree, aceh besar, memerlukan upaya pengendalian infeksi parasit gastrointestinal yang dapat mengancam kesehatan satwa. penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi efektivitas antelmintik closantel dalam mengurangi infeksi cacing gastrointestinal pada gajah sumatra. sampel berupa feses segar dari empat ekor gajah sumatra dikumpulkan sebelum dan sesudah pemberian closantel secara oral. pemeriksaan dilakukan menggunakan metode sedimentasi, apung, sentrifus, dan mc-master untuk mengidentfikasi jenis telur cacing serta menghitung jumlah telur tiap gram tinja (ttgt). hasil penelitian menunjukkan penurunan nilai ttgt dari 750,00±191,48 sebelum pengobatan menjadi 0,00±0,00 setelah pengobatan, dengan nilai p

ABSTRACT The ex-situ conservation of Sumatran elephants (Elephas maximus sumatranus) at the Elephant Conservation Center (PKG) Saree, Aceh Besar, requires efforts to control gastrointestinal parasite infections, which may threaten the health of these animals. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the anthelmintic closantel in reducing gastrointestinal worm infections in Sumatran elephants. Fresh fecal samples were collected from four Sumatran elephants before and after the oral administration of closantel. The examinations were conducted using sedimentation, flotation, centrifugation, and McMaster methods to identify worm egg types and determine the number of eggs per gram of feces (EPG).
