Saat ini limbah tekstil menjadi permasalahan yang serius yang perlu ditangani, dengan jumlah limbah tekstil yang tinggi dari industri tekstil dan fesyen. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi potensi limbah tekstil sebagai bahan dalam pembuatan produk busana outer dengan menggunakan teknik manipulating fabric. limbah tekstil merupakan salah satu penyumbang terbesar polusi lingkungan, sehingga diperlukan inovasi untuk mengelolanya menjedi produk yang mempunyai nilai guna dan estetis. metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, yang melibatkan eksperimen manipulasi material limbah tekstil kain perca, seperti teknik patchwork, pleated, ruffles, applique, dan anyaman. wawancara dilakukan terhadap informan yang berpengalaman di bidang desain busana yaitu desainer, pelaku usaha busana, akademisi dan mahasiswa jurusan tata busana yang telah lulus mata kuliah desain tekstil, dilakukan untuk mendapatkan wawasan serta mengetahui tanggapan informan terhadap produk busana outer berbahan limbah tekstil dengan teknik manipulating fabric. proses penelitian mencakup pengumpulan limbah tekstil, eksplorasi teknik manipulating fabric, dan pengembangan desain outer. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik manipulating fabric mampu menciptakan tekstur dan visual unik yang meningkatkan nilai estetika produk busana outer dan memperpanjang siklus dari bahan limbah tekstil yang digunakan. hasil penelitian, penggunaan teknik manipulating fabric pada limbah tekstil efektif dalam menciptakan produk outer yang ramah lingkungan dan modis, serta dapat diterima dan diapresiasi dengan baik, meskipun terdapat tantangan teknis dalam proses produksinya. penelitian ini berkontribusi pada upaya berkelanjutan di industri tekstil dan fesyen melalui inovasi desain yang ramah lingkungan. kata kunci: limbah tekstil, teknik manipulating fabric, produk outer, ramah lingkungan

Currently, textile waste is a serious problem that needs to be addressed, with a high amount of textile waste from the textile and fashion industries. This research aims to explore the potential of textile waste as a material in making outerwear products using fabric manipulation techniques. Textile waste is one of the biggest contributors to environmental pollution, so innovation is needed to manage it into products that have useful and aesthetic value. The research method uses a qualitative approach, which involves experimental manipulation of patchwork textile waste materials, such as patchwork, pleats, ruffles, appliqués and woven techniques. Interviews were conducted with informants who are experienced in the field of fashion design, namely designers, fashion entrepreneurs, academics and students of the Fashion Department who have graduated from textile design courses, to gain insight and find out the informants' responses to fashion products made from textile waste using fabric manipulation techniques. The research process includes collecting textile waste, exploring fabric manipulation techniques, and developing external designs. The research results show that fabric manipulation techniques are able to create unique textures and visuals that increase the aesthetic value of outerwear products and extend the cycle of textile waste materials used. The research results show that the use of fabric manipulation techniques on textile waste is effective in creating environmentally friendly and fashionable outdoor products, and can be well received and appreciated, even though there are technical challenges in the production process. This research contributes to sustainable efforts in the textile and fashion industry through environmentally friendly design innovations.
