Abstract name : siti nadya raisa student no. : 1006102050035 study program : english education title : the use of animation movie in teaching writing narrative text (a qualitative study at sman 8 banda aceh) keywords: writing, animation movie this study aims at investigating the process of using the animation movie applied by the english teacher at sman 8 banda aceh. it is intended to find out students’ perceptions after they are taught by using animation movie in learning writing narrative text. in order to investigate how the english teacher implements the animation movie in teaching writing narrative text, this study used descriptive qualitative by using purposive sampling technique. to collect data in this study, the researcher observes the english teacher to find out the data regarding the teaching process of animation movie in teaching writing narrative text. in addition,the researcher also administered a set of questionnaires to the students in order to find out their perceptions after they are taught by using animation movie in learning writing narrative text. the collected data were analyzed by presenting them in the form of narration. while the data questionnaire was analyzed by using the formula given by sudijono (2005, p. 46). the results of the observation showed that the teacher implemented the animation movie appropriately. from the questionnaire, the researcher found that the students felt happy and enthusiatic in learning writing narrative text by using animation movie. it also created positive situation in classroom. above all, animation movie can be used by the english teacher as one of the alternative media in english particularly teaching writing narrative in efl class.
