Keywords: speaking, picture series media through retelling story, narrative text this study aims to find out whether the picture series media through retelling story improve students’ speaking of senior high school or not. therefore, in this study, the researcher uses quantitative research in carrying out the research. the result of this study shows that the students’ score increase, which is proven by their scores of pretest and post-test. the mean score of pre-test was 13.9 and the mean score of posttest was 21.45. thus the aspects of speaking skill also improve. grammar has an improvement from 49 in pre-test to 81 in post-test, vocabulary from 64 in pre-test to 93 in post-test, fluency from 46 pre-test to 74 in post-test, comprehension from 51 in pre-test to 89 in post-test, and pronunciation from 68 in pre-test to 92 in post-test. moreover, the result of hypothesis testing indicates that alternative hypothesis is accepted and null hypothesis is rejected. it is shown from the calculation of t-test, 7.63 which is more than t-table. as t-score > t-table, the alternative hypothesis is accepted and null hypothesis is rejected.
