Peternakan merupakan bagian dari pembangunan pertanian nasional indonesia yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan petani dan peternak. sapi aceh merupakan salah satu bangsa sapi potong yang banyak dipelihara di aceh yang dimanfaatkan sebagai sapi penggemukan. sapi ini merupakan salah satu sumber daya ternak lokal yang memiliki potensi yang cukup besar, potensi tersebut belum cukup digali dan dimanfaatkan secara optimal terutama untuk menghasilkan daging yang berkualitas dan memenuhi jangkauan pasar. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji sejauh mana penerapan aspek teknis pemeliharaan sapi aceh di kecamatan tanah luas kabupaten aceh utara. penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan selama 30 hari mulai tanggal 29 januari sampai 29 februari di kecamatan tanah luas. lokasi penelitian ini meliputi 5 desa yaitu desa cot dah, leupon siren, blang pie, matang baloy dan matang cibrek. penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei terhadap 75 peternak sapi aceh dengan menggunakan kuesioner, data yang dikumpulkan terdiri dari data primer dan data sekunder. data primer diperoleh secara langsung dari peternak terpilih, sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh dari instansi yang terkait dengan penelitian seperti lembaga tingkat desa hingga kecamatan, dinas pertanian dan peternakan, serta sumber-sumber pustaka atau referensi yang digunakan dan hasil penelitian yang relevan. parameter yang diamati dalam penelitian ini yaitu kajian aspek teknis pemeliharaan sapi aceh di kecamatan tanah luas kabupaten aceh utara meliputi, aspek pemuliaan dan reproduksi, pakan, tata laksana pemeliharaan, kesehatan, kandang dan perlengkapan. teknik pengambilan sampel secara survey purposive sampling dari peternak yang telah memenuhi syarat acak dan penentuan jumlah sampel ditetapkan dengan rumus slovin. data yang didapat diolah dengan menghitung persentase skor kemudian dibandingkan dengan kategori yang ditetapkan direktorat jendral peternakan tahun 2015. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan aspek teknis pemeliharaan ternak sapi aceh yang diperoleh di kecamatan tanah luas kabupaten aceh utara adalah 57,45% diantaranya penerapan aspek teknis pemuliaan dan reproduksi 73,10%, aspek pakan 29,27%, aspek tatalaksana pemeliharaan 54,07%, aspek kesehatan 76,30%, serta aspek kandang dan perlengkapan 79,84%. hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan aspek teknis pemeliharaan kerbau di kabupaten aceh barat belum sesuai dengan pedoman direktorat jendral peternakan tahun 2015.
